Import products
Bring products in from WooCommerce, Shopify or a CSV template, or copy one product from a web page with the StoreLine Chrome extension.
Import Product brings many products into your store at once from a CSV file, or copies one product from a web page with the StoreLine Chrome extension. Imports never set stock. You add stock afterwards.
Before you start
- You need the permission Import & export products. To create a product from the Chrome extension you also need Add & edit products.
- For a file import, have a CSV file ready: a WooCommerce or Shopify product export, or StoreLine's sample template filled in. One file can be up to 50 MB.
- Only one file import can run in your store at a time.
Ways to import
Go to Inventory → Import Product. Under Choose how to import there is one card for each way:
| Card | Use it for | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| WooCommerce | Moving products from a WooCommerce store | A product export: Products → Export → CSV |
| Shopify | Moving products from a Shopify store | A product export: Products → Export → Plain CSV file |
| General import | Any other source, or re-importing a file exported from StoreLine | The sample template filled in Excel or Google Sheets, saved as CSV |
| Chrome extension | Copying a single product from a product page on Daraz, Alibaba, AliExpress, Shopify or WooCommerce | Chrome with the StoreLine extension installed |
Each file card has a Download sample CSV link: a small example file in the right format, to compare with yours.
Steps: import a CSV file
7 steps · ~5 min
Step 1
Go to Inventory → Import Product and click Start WooCommerce import, Start Shopify import or Start General import.Step 2
Open How to prepare your file if you need the steps for getting your file. For the General import it also lists every column.Step 3
Drop your .csv file on the upload box, or click the box to choose it. StoreLine reads the file first and shows you what will be imported. Nothing is saved until you confirm.Step 4
When you see Your file is ready to import, check the numbers: Products, variations, Will create (and how many will update because the SKU already exists), Categories and Brands (with how many are new) and Images. The Preview shows the first products as they will be imported. Warnings and errors are listed below it.Step 5
Click Import … products to start, or Choose another file.Step 6
While it runs, Created, Updated, Skipped and Failed count up. To stop it, click Cancel import.Step 7
When it is done, read the Outcome. If some rows failed, click Download error report, fix those rows in your file and import it again.
You can leave the page while an import runs. When you come back, Inventory → Import Product shows the running import with a View progress button.
What a file import does
- Existing products are matched by SKU and updated. Importing the same file twice updates the products; it doesn't create copies.
- Variations (Shopify calls them variants) are linked to their parent product.
- Categories and brands that don't exist yet in your store are created.
- Images: image links in your file are copied into your own storage, so your store doesn't depend on the old site. An image already in your storage is reused, not copied again. An image that can't be downloaded is listed under the image problems; its product is still imported.
- Stock is not imported. Add it afterwards with Stock Adjustment → Count.
The General import template
Use one row per product, and one row per variation under it. Keep the header row as it is and leave cells you don't need empty. The main columns:
| Column | What to put |
|---|---|
type | product or variation |
product_sku | Variation rows: the SKU of the product it belongs to |
sku | The product's or variation's SKU. An existing SKU is updated, a new one is created |
name | Product name (product rows) |
price | Regular price, a number without a currency sign |
sale_price | Offer price. Used only when it is lower than the regular price |
cost_price | What one unit costs you |
category | Separate levels with > and several categories with |, for example Clothing > T-Shirts | Summer |
brand | One brand name |
image_url | A public image link (https://…) |
attributes | Variation rows: the options, for example Color: Red | Size: M |
description | Text or simple HTML (product rows) |
is_active | true or false. false hides it from your store |
The full list, with every column's rules and an example, is under How to prepare your file on the General import screen. stock_on_hand is ignored: imports never change stock.
Steps: copy a product with the Chrome extension
8 steps · ~6 min
Step 1
On the Chrome extension card, click Download extension.Step 2
Extract the ZIP. In Chrome, open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, click Load unpacked and select the extracted folder.Step 3
Sign in to your StoreLine dashboard in the same browser, with the store you want to import into selected.Step 4
Open a product page on Daraz, Alibaba, AliExpress, a Shopify store or a WooCommerce store.Step 5
Click the extension icon in the toolbar and press Import to Dashboard.Step 6
Your dashboard opens in a new tab with the product form filled in. Check the name, categories, brand, description and prices. Regular price (৳) is required; change it if the site showed another currency. Leave SKU blank to get one automatically.Step 7
In Images, arrange the pictures: the first one is the main photo (marked Main). You can remove, reorder or add images. A product keeps 1 main photo and up to 5 gallery photos.Step 8
Choose Active or Inactive under Status (it starts as Inactive) and click Create Product.
StoreLine copies the images into your storage and then creates the product. If some images can't be copied, you can Retry, Continue without these images or Cancel. If the page had options (for example colours), you are taken to the product's edit page to review the variation drafts.

FAQ
Only one file import can run in a store at a time. Wait for it to finish, or open it with View progress to follow it.
Products imported before you cancelled stay in your catalogue. The rest of the file is not imported. Import the file again later to finish; existing products are updated, not duplicated.
The image links couldn't be downloaded, or the import was stopped while images were being copied. Check the image problems on the result screen. Import the file again to copy the rest, or add them in the Images card on each product's edit page.
No. Imports never set stock. After importing, use Stock Adjustment → Count to enter what you have.
