Show a popup offer and announcement bars

Show a popup image to visitors, choose how often it comes back, and announce offers in the top bar and a Scrolling Notice strip.

Updated 5 min read19 steps

Announce an offer on your store in three ways: a popup image that visitors see when they arrive, a top bar above the header on every page, and a Scrolling Notice strip on your home page.

Before you start

  • You need the permission Storefront design. Store Owners and Admins have it. Managers and Staff don't have it by default.
  • For the popup, have a square image ready, at least 800×800 px (1080×1080 px is best), as a JPG, PNG or WebP file.

Steps: set up the popup offer

7 steps · ~5 min

  1. Step 1

Go to Settings → Storefront → Popup Offer.
  2. Step 2

Under Image, add your Popup image. It must be square. If it isn't, StoreLine tells you its size and asks for a square one.
  3. Step 3

Under Link and timing, set Link (optional) if a click on the image should open a page. Paste a link, or use the button to choose one of your categories, products or store pages. Leave it empty for an image without a link.
  4. Step 4

Choose Show again after: 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, 14 days or 30 days. A visitor who has seen the popup won't see it again until then.
  5. Step 5

In the Popup card at the top of the page, turn on Show popup offer.
  6. Step 6

Click Save changes at the top. You see Popup offer saved.
  7. Step 7

Click Preview on store in the Popup card. It works once the popup is saved. Your store opens in a new tab and shows the popup. You can preview as often as you like; it doesn't count as seen.

How visitors see the popup

  • It appears about a second after the page has loaded, once the image is ready. If the cart, menu or another window is open, it waits until that closes.
  • Visitors close it by tapping outside the image or pressing Esc. If you set a link, a click on the image closes the popup and opens the link.
  • Each visitor sees it once, then again after the time you chose in Show again after.
  • If you change the image, visitors who saw the old one see the new one on their next visit.
  • It never shows on the cart, checkout, payment confirmation and order tracking pages, so it doesn't get in the way of an order. A visitor who lands there first sees it on the next ordinary page.

Steps: add a top bar

7 steps · ~5 min

The top bar is a thin strip above the header on every page, for things like a delivery offer, a hotline number or a sale.

  1. Step 1

Go to Settings → Storefront → Header and scroll to Top bar.
  2. Step 2

Turn on the switch. It reads Top bar is shown.
  3. Step 3

Click Add message and type the text, up to 120 characters. You can add up to 3 messages.
  4. Step 4

If you like, add a Link (optional) to a message: a store path starting with / or a link starting with https://.
  5. Step 5

Set the Background and Text colours, or leave them empty. Empty uses your theme's primary colour with a readable text colour.
  6. Step 6

Turn Show on mobile off if you want the bar on computers only.
  7. Step 7

Check the preview and click Save changes at the top.

With more than one message, the bar shows them one at a time and changes every few seconds. It pauses while a shopper points at it.

Steps: add a Scrolling Notice to your home page

5 steps · ~3 min

A Scrolling Notice is a home page section: a thin strip of short announcements that scrolls sideways.

  1. Step 1

Go to Settings → Storefront → Home Sections and click Add Widget.
  2. Step 2

Pick Scrolling Notice. It is added at the bottom of your home page; drag it to where you want it.
  3. Step 3

Click its Edit button. Add a notice and type its Message, up to 200 characters. You can add up to 10 notices, and give each one a link in Opens (optional).
  4. Step 4

Pick the Scroll speed: Slow, Normal or Fast, and set the Background and Text colours if you like.
  5. Step 5

    Click Save this section.

The notices scroll from right to left and pause when a shopper hovers over them. A strip without any notice stays hidden on your store.
